Rescue or theft?

I had a real humdinger of a day yesterday, people can be totally unbelievable. I have a pair of German Shepherds that had puppies.  The day before yesterday the big dogs got out and the two of the puppies followed them off. I called and called for them once I realized they were gone and rode around looking for them. That night the big dogs came back but not the puppies. So the I post to the local buy sell trade sites on facebook about my missing puppies.

The next morning I was contacted by a lady that runs a rescue and she gave me a number to someone who had contacted her and sent her a photo of some pups who needed a home.  She had already found a place for the puppies she just had not gone and picked them up from the people who called her. I called the number and that person told me that her neighbor took them home for the night and I could come pick them up later that her neighbor was not home right then.

I had to work a few hours that morning so I waited until I finished work and then tries to call and message and now I could get no reply.  In the midst of all this I still was messaging the lady from the rescue and she is trying to get me to let her take the pups and find them homes.  She had talked to the person who had my pups and they were saying that they had some hair loss that was probably the mange so she was informing about how much it would cost to treat them now versus later.

The spot they were talking about was a spot the momma dog caused by constantly trying to groom a spot with some built up dander.  After getting no answer as where to pick my pups up and the person with them stopped answering calls from the rescue lady too, I looked at the picture taken of them and went straight to the house where the picture was taken.  A man there said yes that his children had found them and brought them home but he didn’t realize that they were following the parents.  His wife let a neighbor take them and hold them for the night because they couldn’t keep them. He pointed me to the house and told me the lady’s name.

I go to her house, she doesn’t answer it sounds like about half a dozen dogs in her house including some puppies. I leave a note by the door in a spot where it wouldn’t fall or blow away, asking her to call me. I go home and I wait. I keep the rescue lady informed of my efforts. I wait a couple hours and go back to her house. I catch her outside and ask her about the pups.  She is an old lady, she looks me dead in the eyes and says she knows nothing about any puppies. She asks me all kinds of questions.

So finally I ask her if she is Ms. (the name the neighbor gave me) and she says yes and I inform her that her neighbor told me that they let her take them for the night and I point out which neighbor.  She still insists that she knows nothing about them and she doesn’t have my pups. I go home again and I message the rescue lady and she says the woman told her that they got out of the kennel and she can’t find them!

Of course by now I am furious. I need to know where my puppies are so I know what to do. If they are running about then I need to be calling for them or if she had them and won’t give them to me then I was calling the police.  The lies had me so upset, I wanted the truth.

I start to leave my house to go to town a little while later and I see the county animal control vehicle go by.  I follow it and it goes to her house!  I am mad and I don’t know what is going on but I was just going to wait until he left and flag him down at the end of the road and not confront the situation at her house. I go back to my house and get my significant other and he goes right to her house. He gets out and starts questioning the lady and she tells him the same stuff she told me.  Then he asks the animal control officer why he is there and he says he can’t divulge that information.  We go home.

I am messaging the rescue lady telling her the woman has animal control over there now and I practically accuse her of being in on all this.  She assures me she doesn’t know what is going on but she will call and find out.  While we were still talking to her the officer pulls up and gets our pups out.  He is shaking his head and says, “These rescue women get crazy sometimes.”  The old lady who had them use to work for the human society. She is about 80 years old now.  She was trying to say they were neglected and they were hurt etc.  He could see however they were very healthy puppies. He told the lady, ” these puppies belong to someone who wants them back and they have to go back these people can file charges on you.”

We were not interested in filing charges though, we were just glad to have our pups back.  I don’t know what she had planned for the pups make me wonder though since she even lied to the rescue that was going to pick them up until they knew they belonged to someone.  Mind boggling to think someone gonna grab up a couple of puppies and instead of trying to find the owners or give the owners a chance to come looking for them, just start trying to hand them off to someone else.  Not every dog you see sitting by the road or wanders through your neighbor is lost or in need of rescue, most will go back home if left alone.  Makes me wonder how many dogs have been snatched up and whisked away while walking by the curb in front of their owners house, all in the name of rescue?  After all my pups were scheduled to be flown somewhere else at the end of the week after only being missing from my house for a couple hours!

In the actual rescue’s defense, they were only going by what they were told in the beginning, they hadn’t even seen the pups, just a picture of them, and she was listening to me and trying to help me the whole time that I was trying to get them back.

After kayaking the other day I came across this fellow.  He was just hanging around and not caring that I was near.

I took a few photos since my camera just happened to be in my vehicle.

Earlier that day I had put my kayak in the sound behind the Quietwater Boardwalk on Santa Rosa Island, near Pensacola Beach.

This was a solo trip because I couldn’t find no one to go with me so I got to take my time and wander around afterwards.

These photos were taken in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

The park right before you go over the bridge back to Pensacola.

The last photo way down below is what I did for my            personal       facebook page.

Thanks for looking and please come again!

If you made it this far comment even if it is just a hello or ………
